Beer Name: Shimmering Lake Saison
Brewery: Lake Effect Brewing Company
Average Score: 87/100
Woz’s Score: 92/100
What it looks like:
Perfect appearance, hazy and golden yellow straw, a thin but tall white head that dissipated fairly fast.
Appearance Score: 10
What is smells like:
Nose on this is spot on, floral clove and coriander notes, and a slight savory aspect to it. Bready and slightly nutty notes follow. The yeast is present but not overly assertive.
Aroma Score: 25
What is tastes like:
I still think there is a slight savory aspect to it and a slow progression of a hint of a hop. Orange and coriander take the center stage. Finishes with a hint of hop dryness.
Taste Score: 45
Great mouthfeel though a bit viscous for a saison and lends itself more to a wit to me. Nevertheless very pleasant and soft.
Mouthfeel Score: 12
Well composed Lake effect, excellent brew here with layers of flavor. It remains very session-able throughout with a savory aspect that begs you to take another sip. Though this brew earns a Worth a Taste ranking for an average, I give it a Dam Good.
